I want to share about a recent restoration lampshade project, this project was an absolute labour of love for me, I had great pleasure and satisfaction working on this shade. From the very beginning choosing the fabric & selecting the embellishment trims to the physical stripping and restoration of the frame, drafting new templates.
My client wanted to keep the natural classic, clean style of the original shade. This shade has great sentimental value to my customer. This style shade is no longer available to purchase on the high street. I enjoyed working on such an elegant vintage inspired shade and to give this shade a new lease of life. This is a little different from my normal style of modern funky creations. You may not be able to see from the photos but this was a large scalloped lampshade with 16 panels and it took 9.5 metres of trim to embellish.
First decision was the fabric selection, after lots of options my client decided on this stunning Eton texture fabric in colour tone Fennel from Interior Dreams on Thomas Street in Limerick City. I will definitely use this fabric again the texture effect was perfect for the shade.
The frame had to be stripped, sanded and painted I drafted new templates for the shade and the fun began. I absolutely love my job & love the physical making and seeing the shade develop before your eyes. So here are a few photos of the process and the photo of the finished shade. This shade has been collecteed and is now hanging in its home.
If you have a shade that needs some restoration due to décor changes in your home or if it needs some TLC and repairs I am happy to help and discuss fabric options.
